Chief Scouts Gold Award This is the highest Award in the Cub Scout Section. It builds on the Chief Scout's Bronze Award in the Beaver Scout Section and leads on to the Chief Scout's Gold Award in the Scout Section. It is achieved by completing the following requirements: Challenge Badges There are eight Challenges Badges for the Scouts to complete. These Challenges can be tackled by individuals or by groups. The badge requirements are below:
Each Scout is expected to show personal commitment and be fully involved in the activities. The level of involvement will depend on the Scout's previous experience and personal ability. The activity should offer a challenge to those involved, just remember that an activity may not have seemed 100% successful, but did you still learn from the situation and gained experience? Activity Badges Activity Badges are another way of recognising the achievements of Scouts who have learnt a new skill, or who have taken part in an activity for a certain period of time. Scouts should be encouraged, where possible, to achieve National Governing Body Awards. These can also be used to help achieve the relevant Scout Activity Badge. For example, in gaining a BASI award, a Scout might also achieve the Snowsports Badge. There are seventy badges available for Scouts to achieve, below are the requirements for each of the badges:
Staged Activity Badges In addition to these, there are four Activity Badges staged across these Sections. These are: The Staged Activity Badges have been designed to provide a seamless approach throughout the Sections. For each stage there are five levels available. This means that a young person can gain whichever badge is appropriate to the level they have reached. It is possible, for example, for a Beaver Scout who is an excellent swimmer to gain a higher level badge than a Scout who has just taken up the activity.
